Camera 2 Time Lapse
The next slide shows a time lapse movie from Camera 2 on the tower downstream of the damn. It is not available on this web site because of the size of the file, 13.2 Mb. Anyone in the USA who wants a copy may send $5.00 s/h (outside USA, $8.00 s/h) to
Don Baker, 5001 W 5th Place, Stillwater, OK 74074-6703
Or, possibly for free via dtemple@pswcrl.ars.usda.gov or constad@ars.usda.gov
Each frame is about 3 minutes apart. Depending on your software, the movie will run either by clicking on the image or on the title. If it will run by clicking on the title, you may be able to stop the action and move either forward or back by pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard. Do not be confused by the movement of the large carriage. It only makes it looks as though everything else is moving. Notice how the dam erodes across the entire width of the overtopping, but not evenly. Look for the mass failures, large chunks of dirt collapsing into the flow under the water fall. Notice the large jet slightly towards the left of the tower and rise in the tailwater when the breach actually occurs.
